Parent/Child
Below is a list of classes offered throughout the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver Association. Please check with your location for specific classes, times and dates.
Parent-Child Ages 6-36+ months.
The primary objective is to make both the child and
parent comfortable in the water. Children will participate in games that use basic
skills in the water such as kicking, arm movements and breath control. Additional
activities are based on the developmental abilities of the child. Children are required
to wear rubber pants or swim diapers under their swimsuit (No Regular Diapers).
One adult per child is required; couples encouraged.
Seahorse Age 2 years old (parent-child format)
Seahorse is designed for the independent child who can swim with or without a floatation device. Class will begin with the parent in the water and attempt to slowly transition to a “parent-free” class as the student becomes more comfortable in the class. Emphasis will be placed in building the student’s confidence in a pool setting.
