Swim Lessons

The YMCA of Metropolitan Denver is taking a leading role in the education of both parents and children in making sure everyone is safe and has fun in and around the water. We have 4 swimming pools in which we teach swimming lessons and water safety to children and adults year round, as well as operating many summer outdoor pools.

With drowning as the leading cause of injury-related death in children 1 to 14 years of age and because drowning can occur anywhere — the pool, the beach, home, school, in motor vehicles, or in recreational vehicles — the YMCA is committed to teaching as many of our young people as possible to learn to swim in order to be safe and have fun in the water.

No one can “drown-proof” children, but we do educate them to the dangers of the swimming environment. Swim lessons do not prevent drowning incidents, although they may decrease the risk of drowning. The best prevention against drowning is close supervision of children in and around water.
