YMCA Middle School Enrichment Programs are designed to encourage two types of learning: course specific tutoring to enhance the child’s classroom work and their efforts to improve CSAP scores; and opportunities to learn new and exciting skills outside the classroom that help expand the child’s horizons. The program encourages students to select clubs to participate in each session. The clubs concept fosters positive relationships among students, peers, and adults.

At the YMCA EXCEL Academy, students in grades 6-8 find the academic, social, emotional and personal support they need to succeed. The program broadens the scope of traditional after school programs. It underlines the value of academic enrichment for students with limited exposure to the world beyond their classrooms and neighborhoods.
