The Southwest Family YMCA offers a variety of fitness classes, most are included with membership. Check the current schedule here, to see what is being offered this month.
BOKWA: This is a new group dance exercise format for everyone! Participants draw letters and numbers with their feet while performing a cardio workout routine.
Boot Camp: A cardio/strength circuit class designed to whip you into shape with no choreography.
Butts & Guts: Is a cardio and strength class that will work your abs, back and glute muscles.
Cardio Sculpt: Get a total body workout in this 60 minute interval class using weights, steps and low impact moves.
Complete Conditioning: This class will challenge your strength and coordination by using techniques utilizing dumbbells, tubing, bands and more. A perfect supplement to cardiovascular training that is appropriate for many levels! Hatha Yoga: This class is open to all levels and will combine slow movements with focus on the breath. Some postures will be held, some will have a playful element.
Core in Motion: This Pilates and yoga based class effectively combines mind and body techniques along with core strength and body sculpting conditioning exercises to create long lean muscle mass, a more flexible youthful body and an inner sense of peace and total relaxation.
Cycling: Certified instructors will take you through an imaginary ride up hills and through scenic landscapes, putting a spin on your workout!
Flow Yoga: Vinyasa Yoga is a powerful and vigorous style of yoga consisting of a sequence of postures linked together in a flowing series by the breath. Some Yoga experience is needed.
Kickboxing: Improve your muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance. An exciting and invigorating workout using kicking and boxing techniques. Punching bags and gloves are used in this fun class!
LESMILLS BODYCOMBAT®: An energetic program inspired by martial arts and draws from a wide array of disciplines such as karate, boxing, Tae Kwon Do, Tai Chi and Muay Thai.
LESMILLS BODYPUMP®: An exciting barbell class designed to strengthen all your major muscle groups.
Mat I/II for beginners and Intermediate levels. Mat II for intermediate and advanced levels.
NIA (NEE-uh):. Nia is an energizing barefoot movement class done to world beat music, with influences from Martial Arts, Dance Arts and Healing Arts, for all levels of fitness.
Pilates: This class features the movements made famous by Joseph H. Pilates, and emphasizes abdominal and back strengthening, enhances long muscle structure while increasing flexibility.
SilverSneakers® Yoga: Will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement.
SilverSneakers®: Circuit: Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout
SilverSneakers®: Classic: Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills.
Tai Chi: Is a mind-body practice that originated in China as a martial art. A person doing tai chi moves their body slowly and gently, while breathing deeply and meditating.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga: Links breath and movement in order to create a meditative & challenging class. Learn more about postural alignment and anatomy as you create strength and flexibility in this intermediate class.
willPower & Grace: This workout is the ideal cardiovascular solution for mind-body practitioners. It's equipment-free; barefoot, and infused with positive, strengthening philosophy.
Zumba (Gold): A number of different dances including salsa, calypso and reggaeton all infused with Latin music. Zumba uses the basics of interval and resistance training to maximize the number of calories spent. You do not need to know how to dance to get a killer workout. Zumba Gold for beginners
