SAVING MONEY WITH PRE-TAX ELECTION PLANS
We at the YMCA realize how hard you work to earn your paycheck. We have implemented several plans that allow you take home more of that paycheck by paying for several things on a pre-tax basis. Through payroll deductions employees are able to lower their taxable income and pay for insurance premiums and even parking with pre-tax dollars.
YMCA SECTION 125 PLANS
Medical Reimbursement Account - $2,000 per year (FULL TIME EMPLOYEES ONLY)
Each employee who elects one of the two medical insurance plans is automatically enrolled in the Aetna Dental Benefit Option. It is our hope that the Dental Benefit Option will help you an your covered dependents enjoy better health through regular dental care.
- Employees can set a side up to $2,000 per year for un-reimbursed medical expenses.
- Eligible expenses include: deductible and copays associated with the medical and dental plans and lasik eye procedures.

Dependent Care Expense Account - $5,000 per year
- Allows an employee to pay for dependent day care expenses with pre-tax dollars
Transportation Expense Account
- Allows an employee to pay for employment related parking and/or bus/train passes that with pre-tax dollars. This does not include expenses that are paid for by the YMCA.
- Up to $195 per month for parking expenses.
- Up to $100 per month for transportation expenses (bus and train passes.)
Premium Conversion Plan
- The employee portion of health insurance premiums is paid with pre-tax dollars.
IRS Rules Apply
- Money set aside for health care expenses cannot be used for dependent care expenses, or vice versa.
- You may change your annual election(s) only if you experience a change in status such as marriage, divorce, change in the number of dependents, or change in employment status.
- At the end of the plan year you forfeit any unspent money in your Health or Dependent Care Accounts.
