Teen Leadership at the YMCA
At the YMCA, youth ages 11 to 18 can find opportunities to learn and practice leadership skills and at the same time give back to their communities.
Through multiple programs going on year-round, teens build the confidence that comes from civic participation and develop team-building qualities that will help them succeed in high school and college and throughout life.
Activities and initiatives are in the works now for the following programs. Learn more:
Y Leaders (Ages 11-18)
Meetings are Wednesday evenings 6pm-7pm in the YMCA Teen Center
Under the supervision of YMCA staff, Y Leaders create team-based, youth-led projects to address real issues in the community. Y Leaders meet each wednesday evening throughout the school year to identify ways to get involved, participate in service projects, and develop leadership and teamwork skills.
Y Leaders also steer the YMCA’s Tobacco-Free Aurora Program, which is designed to create smoke-free parks, trails, and open spaces throughout Aurora.
Teen Center at Southlands Shopping Center, 6155 S. Main St., Aurora, CO 80016

In this summer youth leadership program, middle school students volunteer, get involved, and see the impact they can have on their community, all while having fun. Each week, Leaders in Training campers participate in service learning initiatives at local agencies. They also go on interesting and educational field trips. Camp runs Tuesday through Thursday throughout the summer.
Summer of Service (15-18 years)
Summer of Service is geared toward older youth who want to explore new opportunities in service. Youth participate in a week of meaningful leadership and volunteer projects throughout metro Denver. Summer of Service runs for four weeks, Monday through Friday.
