Swimming is an excellent way to build both cardiovascular and muscle strength -- and get fit in the water. The Y offers adult swim programs across the metro area and at local outdoor pools. Programs include:
- Swim lessons - It's never too late to learn how to swim. At the Y, adult swimmers acclimate to the water in a safe environment and master the basics of floating, paddling, and breathing.
- Stroke clinics - In this class, swimmers develop swim strokes, including the front and back crawl, breaststroke, and sidestroke. Adult swimmers learn the basics of breathing, kicking techniques, and water safety.
- Private and semi-private lessons - These lessons provide individualized attention to help swimmers improve or master skills. Each participant sets the agenda by working with the instructor to determine and meet goals.
- Aquatics-based fitness classes - These water-based classes vary by location and include AquaZumba®, Aquacise, Aquapump, Hydro Boot Camp, and more.
