After learning about a teenager that needed a positive role model, a friend introduced Dapo Fadeyi to the YMCA of Metro Denver’s Reach and Rise program, which provides mentors to youth ages six to 17. After being accepted into the Y’s mentor program, Fadeyi, 35 was matched with Alex, 13 and the two soon found themselves spending an hour a week together.
Colorado Sports Hall of Fame (CSHOF) announced YMCA of Denver Metro as a recipient of its 2015 CSHOF “Championship Saturday”, CSHOF Induction & Awards Banquet and the CSHOF Golf Classic. YMCA of Metro Denver is receiving a $5,000 donation.
Arlene Seaton, a longtime member and friend of the Schlessman Family YMCA, donated $1 million to the organization on Colorado Gives Day – the biggest online donation ever made on Colorado Gives Day and one of the largest single donations given to the Y.
This time of year, students are heading back to school, and ready to get to know new teachers, schedules, and friends. But for many kids, back-to-school means unexpected challenges, or a return to tough situations.
Mentors wanted to provide positive experiences, strong role models for At-Risk youth. Young adults and students looking to enhance their lives and do something meaningful can make a lasting impact in the YMCA’s Reach & Rise Mentoring Program.
