Jumpstart 2019! Join our January Fitness Challenge

Congratulations to all who completed and participated in our 12 Days of Fitness Challenge in December! Join our January Mobile App Challenge! All you have to do is visit the Schlessman Y 6 times this month to jumpstart your 2019 goals!  

Twirl Into Action With Ballet and Tap!

Off the Screen, On the Mic! Poetry Night, Jan. 16

We're starting a new monthly event based on the idea of building relationships “off the screen” and in person! We'll have a variety of events, both fun and informational, held on the third Wednesday of the month. Join us for our kick-off on January 16 from 5:30 -7 pm for our open mic poetry night and writing workshop. Event is open to members and guests. Put down your devices and come for an evening of fun! 

Building Better Meals With Chef Lynda Lacher, Jan. 17

START 2019 WITH NEW SKILLS

The Y is hosting a 90-minute, family-friendly cooking class, featuring Chef Lynda Lacher.

January’s class will focus on macronutrients (protein, fat, carbohydrates) which are the building blocks of a healthy diet. Finding the proper balance of these nutrients helps balance weight, energy and increase your satiety between meals. This class will feature easy, nourishing and comforting one pot meals. 

Class will include:

* Knife skills
* Easy to prepare, family friendly recipes
* Demonstration of recipes and techniques
* Nutrition information
* Q&A
* Delicious food to taste and enjoy

Each class costs $15 per person (Value = $65). Maximum class size is 30. Join us to improve your eating habits, cooking skills and to gain more confidence in choosing and preparing better quality foods. 

Chef Lynda Lacher is a therapeutic chef and culinary instructor, and owner of COOK EAT THRIVE. Her specialty is teaching people the vital skill of healthy cooking and creating confidence in the kitchen! She is a graduate of, and former chef instructor at, Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Program, Brown College, MN. Chef Lynda created and currently teaches the Natural Chef Program at the Nutrition Therapy Institute, Denver, CO
