How are AmazonSmile donations used?

When the YMCA is in a community, good things happen. When people are isolated, when resources are limited, and when opportunities to live healthy and succeed are scarce, the Y responds.

Donations to the YMCA through AmazonSmile go directly to programs and services that:

  • Help people fight disease and overcome physical challenges
  • Keep seniors engaged and healthy
  • Eliminate achievement gaps for students from low-income families
  • Foster confidence and respect in children that can reduce bullying

When Misha was a young girl, she almost drowned. This led to a life-long fear of water she didn’t want to pass on to her own kids. She says whenever they passed a pool they would want to dive in and splash with their friends.

But, as Misha knew from her own experience: If you don’t have proper swim lessons, you simply can’t.

Drowning is the second leading cause of death for young people, and the fatal-drowning rate for African-American children is three times higher than white children.

So, Misha turned to the YMCA.

Here, Misha’s kids learned vital aquatics skills to not only swim, but to always be safe around water. Now, seeing her kids splash and play safely and with confidence, Misha has been inspired to do the same.

“I’m going to learn to swim too. I want them to be proud of me.”

The YMCA responds when people are in need. And the Y is where good things happen for Misha, her family and all of us. Ensure the Y can always be here for our community. Give through AmazonSmile.
