Seeking positive, flexible and enthusiastic role models to impact the lives of the children for the YMCA of Metro Denver Day Camps.
Camp Counselors work as a team to facilitate a variety of summer Day Camp events and activities with a group of campers, ages 5-12 Obviously, safety is the number one priority, however a close second is to ensure a camp environment that is welcoming, engaging, and exciting all while providing an experience that allows participants to build character.
Camp Counselors help facilitate games, activities, team builders and get-to-know-you's daily, as well as support other parts of the daily schedule, which can include field trips, swimming, AM and/or PM rallies or even administrative components, like reporting, documentation or other duties that support the success of the day camp program. Ideal candidates are youth oriented, reliable, quick learners, great problem solvers, excellent communicators, creative and are able to step outside their own comfort zones.
Camp Counselors are role models for all youth and are expected to actively engage in all parts of the program. This position will pack your resume with applicable skills and experience that will not only support a career working with youth, but are also transferable to many careers. Hours/Day Schedule – Monday – Friday, hours will vary from 6:30am-6:00pm
Branch/Location of Position – Denver Metro Area Locations- Arvada, Aurora, Wheatridge, Commerce City, Northglenn, Littleton Denver, Parker
Pay Range - $10.20/ (16 or 17 years old) $11.05/hour (18 and older)
Specific Requirements – Must be at least 16 years of age, have at least 3 months of verifiable experience working with youth 5-12 years of age. Experience includes babysitting, volunteer coaching, nannying, VBS, tutoring, mentoring. A letter with approximate hours will suffice. Under the direction of the Site Director, the Program Leader/Aide is responsible for assisting the delivery of the program. This includes behavior management and safety of the program participants, based on the regulations set by the State of Colorado Licensing and The YMCA of Metropolitan Denver. The Program Leader will deliver professional engagement of youth and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA. The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA. Must be reliable and consistent for all required shifts.
Will be required to lead a group of 15 kids daily
Engagement with the group for an average of 8 hours a day- following the provided schedule, and ensure safety of the campers
Implement the provided curriculum and activities daily
