Although the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver does not operate an overnight camp, our sister Ys in Colorado do. These overnight camps offer the camp experience of fun, independence and accomplishment.
Located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, Camp Chief Ouray has grown to be a premiere overnight camping option for boys and girls from all over the United States. Whether your camper is a first timer or has attended various residential camps before, CCO provides a unique opportunity for independent development in a caring community. We are dedicated to growth in spirit, mind, and body, in an outdoor setting and Christian environment. We are committed to developing five core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith for daily living. Explore and grow through a strong tradition of quality programming and fun -- and make life-long friends in the process. www.campchiefouray.org/

In our Base Camp Program (Ages 7-12), campers spend a week living in single-gender cabins getting a taste of all that camp has to offer, including horseback riding, canoeing, “specialty areas,” and an out-of-cabin overnight packout adventure. When registering for Base Camp, each camper selects a “specialty area” of their choice. Every morning, campers will participate in their “specialty area”. The specialty areas are; Marksmanship, Eco Survival Challenge, Mountain Sports or Horsemanship. During the week, campers will have the opportunity to try the other specialty area activities during “choice time.”
We have several Teen Camps as well (ages 12-17). Teen Paddling focuses on white water rafting on the Arkansas River, Teen Terrain focuses on white water rafting and rock climbing, Teen Riding is an advanced horsemanship camp and Teen Combo is a two week combination of all programs. In our Teen Leadership Camps (Ages 13-14 and 15-17), campers progress through our programs, learning the skills necessary to become great leaders and maybe one day, great camp staff!
